An old buddy of mine is the best example I can relate on the good that religon brings. He was recon in NAM, a middleweight boxer, a man I've seen strike out ,without direct provocation, on a number of occasions at outspoken strangers. I know of him hunting down "targets", for want of a better word, on his vacation for sport.Today he is a different man. This email I received is an example: God's Boxes >> > >> > I have in my hands two boxes >> > Which God gave me to hold. >> > He said, "Put all your sorrows in the black box, >> > And all your joys in the gold." >> > >> > I heeded His words, and in the two boxes >> > Both my joys and sorrows I stored, >> > But though the gold became heavier each day >> > The black was as light as before. >> > >> > With curiosity, I opened the black, >> > I wanted to find out why, >> > And I saw, in the base of the box, a hole >> > Which my sorrows had fallen out by. >> > >> > I showed the hole to God, and mused, >> > "I wonder where my sorrows could be." >> > He smiled a gentle smile and said, >> > "My child, they're all here with me." >> > >> > I asked, "God, why He gave me the boxes, >> > Why the gold, and the black with the hole?" >> > "My child, the gold is for you to count your blessings, >> > The black is for you to let go." >> > >> > We should consider all of our friends a blessing. >> > Send this to a friend today just to let them know you are >> > thinking of them and that they are a joy in your life: >> > >> > A ball is a circle, no beginning, no end. >> > It keeps us together like our Circle of Friends >> > But the treasure inside for you to see >> > Is the treasure of friendship you've granted to me. >> > >> > Today I pass the friendship ball to you. >> > Pass it on to someone who is a friend to you... >> > Although I will remain an agnostic, there are a number reasons why I refuse to snicker at a believer. A big one is the peace and comfort it has brought to my friends and family. -------------------- Amd Duron 850 VIA Apollo KT133 PCI Chipset Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG 192 Meg Ram I pushed the button and it didn't work. erict3, I don't need god to realize and undestand the points your friend makes in his email. In fact I guess I was born like that, or my parents brought me up well. Without god. That people change is a known fact, and some of them, when the change is radical, tend to endorse it to a miraculous occurrence. It is called growing up. Also known as coming down to your senses. I certainly understand better someone who was brainwashed since early age and is a believer than the so called born again xians, for the latter are a total bore. Parroting all the time the myths and sci-fi tales written on that book. I've never even tried to talk a believer into tossing the useless crutch of religion, since I know it is impossible, and furthermore I don't care. By the same token, I have no respect whatever for the idiots that every once in a while ring the bell to my house and try to sell me their beliefs, or else I'll go to hell. My usual response to those pinheaded retards is that I am a pagan that lives in adoration of horus, the Egyptian sun god, at which point they look at each other (they always come in pairs), and leave. Cheers. -------------------- Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends.
